Empowering
Difference Makers

Surmounting the longstanding educational and other disparities in our society is a job for all of us. Helping more outstanding students who want to make a difference to acquire a world-class education can reverse this trend directly while empowering them to be agents of constructive, intelligent change that benefits all Americans.

Since its inception in 1983, the Lennon Goins Alumni Scholarship Fund (GASF) has provided scholarships to attract more outstanding, service-oriented students to UC San Diego (UCSD) from these communities throughout the state and nation. GASF actively encourages and supports its Scholars’ full participation in UCSD's academic and co-curricular programs that enable them to thrive personally while enhancing their skills and abilities in preparation for post-university success in their chosen fields. GASF is a private, externally based, academic achievement-focused scholarship program managed by alumni volunteers, and is not part of the campus administration.

GASF GRADS ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Jazzalyn Livingston is the National Program Director for the One America Movement, and an alumnus of the University of California, San Diego, where she double majored in Psychology and Public Health. As a former Goins Alumni Scholar, she says “I cannot express how much this program did for me during my times as an undergraduate at UCSD. Because of the scholarship, I was able to graduate debt-free and pursue grad school and employment with a national nonprofit organization without financial worries.”
