For UCSD-admitted first year transfer applicants, the Lennon Goins Alumni Scholarship Fund (GASF) Scholarship of $2,500 is renewable in annual increments of $2,500 over a two-year period for up to $5,000. This unique scholarship is for students in any UCSD major with outstanding academic and community service records, among other qualifications highlighted below, and may be used toward tuition, books, and/or living expenses. Please click on the About Us tab for additional details concerning scholarship eligibility criteria.
Transfer students who have been admitted to UC San Diego and believe they may be eligible for a GASF scholarship are invited to apply for the scholarship on a link that will be activated on the GASF website in mid-April, around the time admission notifications for transfer students are provided by UCSD.
Applications will be reviewed by the GASF selection committee utilizing the criteria provided in the About Us tab of this website. You will be notified around mid-May if you have received a scholarship offer. Neither UCSD nor its employees are involved in the selection of scholarship recipients. GASF Board Members will call everyone who has received a GASF scholarship offer to answer questions about the campus and the scholarship program and to ensure each offeree understands the expectations and requirements of the program. In this regard, please note, receipt of the scholarship is dependent upon your decision to attend UC San Diego, to live on-campus for your junior and senior year unless an exception is granted (upon written request this requirement can be waived for married, head of household, or students over 22 years of age), and to participate in GASF enrichment activities (as described below).
The scholarship is worth much more than $5,000 because, in addition to the financial award, the GASF Scholarship Program includes invaluable academic enrichments preferred by high-achieving students like you, such as:
Our intention is not merely to have you select UCSD, it is to ensure that you thrive and develop to your highest potential as a member of the Triton and GASF Families. We want you to graduate having benefited from all that this world-class university has to offer, prepared for your highest aspirations for graduate or professional school, employment, or entrepreneurial opportunities.
NOTE: You will be joining a community of over 200 current GASF Scholars at UCSD. GASF brings its Scholars together several times each year. All Scholars are expected, as part of the Scholarship’s renewal requirements, to participate in the GASF Program’s enrichment activities and maintain at least a 2.7 GPA.
We look forward to seeing you soon at UCSD.
Sincerely,
Ed Spriggs,
Chair, GASF
Janet Fisher,
Vice Chair, GASF
